After losing 45 lbs I remember thinking if I just…

If I workout hard enough, eat clean enough, do all the “right things,” my skin will just tighten up. But the truth is…

our bodies aren’t meant to bounce back like rubber bands.

Whether it’s weight loss, pregnancy, or just aging, our skin changes. It stretched to carry you through a season, and that alone is incredible. ✨

Here’s what I’ve learned about loose skin:
💡 It’s normal. Skin elasticity decreases with age, how long you carried the extra weight, and your genetics.
💪 Building muscle can help fill out areas and create more definition, giving a tighter appearance, but it won’t remove excess skin.
🥑 Hydration, protein-rich nutrition, and collagen support your skin health, but again they can’t just “erase” loose skin.
🧬 Ultimately, genetics play a huge role in how your skin responds as well. My mom has tons of stretch marks from pregnancy, but my sister and I both have zero.

I spent years picking apart my body, wishing away every wrinkle, line, and fold. But I realized I had a choice: I could keep focusing on what I couldn’t control, or I could pour my energy into what I can: nourishing my body well, getting stronger, and living a life that feels free.

This skin is a reminder of where I’ve been and how far I’ve come. I don’t always have to love it, but I chose not to focus on it and I’d rather have a little loose skin and live in freedom than keep myself small, tired, and miserable just to avoid it.

If you’re on your journey, know this: your worth has nothing to do with your skin. Your body is allowed to show that it has lived and carried you through.

🤍 Focus on what you can control. Embrace it. Honor it. Strengthen it. And don’t let it hold you back from loving yourself fully today.
